Currently, there is an event with NLB (National Library Board) where two public libraries have about 100 units of iPads each for loan to the public who are eligible (conditions apply). These two libraries are the Bukit Merah and Bedok Public Libraries. For more details, you may check up with them. I understand this event is to encourage the public to go digital by e-reading books, newspapers, magazines, etc.
Of course, any smart devices including the iPad can do more than what is stated above. What is good on this event is that, those eligible to borrow the iPad (for two weeks) is also given a workshop session, hands-on in learning how to use the iPads. Each participant is also given a free “hot-spot” wireless account to surf the Internet.
