IT Interest Group Meeting on 23-03-2013 (Saturday)

For the month of March, the ITIG discussion will be on Understanding and Using the iPad. Like the desktop and laptop computers, iPads are computing devices or equipment, which enable us to surf the Internet, send/receive emails and a lot of other things expected from a computer. The main difference is how the iPads communicate (connecting to the Internet), interface with peripheral equipment (connecting to a printer or monitor screen), or downloading pictures to the iPads. iPad is one of the model/type names of Apple products. Other brands also have similar products as the iPads and are called, the “Tablet”.

A good iPad or tablet is one that is using the latest Operating System, user friendly, a good battery (how many hours of use without charging the battery, since it is used mainly outdoors), supporting or able to download good, useful, reliable and user friendly Application programs (we called these the Apps). Please take note that when buying a tablet or iPad, it is the latest model that matters and not the cheapest.

In the past, we were made to believe nothing is free. But now, we stand to be
corrected that sometimes – free offers (free Apps – application programs) do
exist. If accepted, it comes with risks and consequences. So the advice is, be
selective and know where the free application programs come from. Is there any
organisation or parties monitoring and checking these programs? Are these Apps
programs come from malicious sites? In this month’s discussion, we will show
you some of the reasonably safe sites (Apps programs) to have fun with – for
all ages.  A Power Point presentation will list down all (that I know of)
the things you can have fun with – using your iPad or tablet.

Please bring along your tablet, iPad or smart devices. The Venue is at Leng
Kee Community Centre (LKCC). Nearest MRT is Redhill MRT.

Owing to classroom size availability, registration will close at 20.

For those who wish to attend, please join as a member (if you are not already a member) of this site first prior to sending me your IC details separately through (Repeated participants need not to send the IC details again).
