Come this 1st Oct (Saturday) NLB is holding “Time of Your Life” Expo in the open space in front of the Central Library at 100 Victoria Street. I am manning a booth catering to seniors interested in digital devices like the smartphones, the Apps, etc. The Expo is from 9AM to 4PM.
During this Expo time, I will be sharing with you six of the more popular mobile Apps (for seniors) and they are:
- SG Radio
- Google Maps
- SG Buses
- NLB Mobile & OverDrive
Come and see what the library has rolled out for you in time of our lives as seniors.

This coffee chat is for those who want to know more what the Internet can do for them. It also serves as an opportunity for those who have attended last week’s IT lesson in Bukit Merah Library (the previous post), an opportunity for them to reinforce what they have learnt and put into practice.

Microsoft Windows 10 is the latest Microsoft operating system for all Windows based smartphones, tablet, laptop and PCs.
If you are caught with this Windows 10 operating system after purchasing a tablet or laptop or desktop PC, this is the opportunity for you to learn some tricks to tame the OS.

Direction: Nearest MRT: Tiong Bahru, exit and turn right, up escalator and take bus number 5 or 16 or 851 to end (Bukit Merah Bus Interchange). About 5 minutes walk to library.
For those who have the laptop or tablet installed with Windows 8 or 10 Operating System, please bring along to the class. Please fully charge your devices.
One point to note: Windows 10 operating system now do not come with the DVD media player since most of the laptop nowadays are come without a DVD player.
For any reason you would like to play a DVD movie on your laptop or desktop with Windows 10 installed, you have to either purchase a DVD player APP online or go to the VLC official web site and download free the VLC media player program.
After successfully installed, insert DVD movie in player and open the VLC program. Next select “Open Disc” to play your DVD movie.
