Viruses, Spam, Pop-ups & Spyware

The web is filled with “free” offers. Some companies may allow you to test their versions of anti-spyware and anti-virus programs on the Internet. Be careful of bogus advertisement and “reviews” for products that actually install spyware and viruses on your computer. Take note that no reputable software vendor would ever advertise with a pop-up ad, an offer to scan your computer over the Internet and clear the viruses for you (for free) or an ad that looks like a Windows error dialog box saying “Your computer is unprotected.” Then request you to follow their instructions …

There are many reputable Brands of anti-virus and anti-spyware programs in the market. You can either subscribed on-line (if you know the URL web address of the reputable company) or go and purchase a copy of anti-virus and anti-spyware program and install onto the computer yourself.
